I suppose this might be a concern if Obama gets elected to the presidency.  Middle eastern terrorists are good at hyping up a religious infraction.  I could see them using the fact that Obama was technically a Muslim by paternal selection in his youth, and is now a Christian by choice, which is a big no, no in radical Islam.

But here's the thing.  Irrationally violent people really don't need a pretext, they'll invent one regardless, and in our case the fact that we elect an American is enough of a problem for the idiots anyhow.

Quote
Apostasy in Islam (Arabic: ارتداد, irtidād or ridda) is commonly defined as the rejection of Islam in word or deed by a person who has been a Muslim.
The four major Sunni and the one major Shia Madh'hab (schools of Islamic jurisprudence) agree that a sane adult male apostate must be executed.[1]

The VP selection becomes very important

Last time I checked, this was not a Muslim country. Nor is it a Muslim-majority country, or where any form of Islamic law is in place.  Maybe some freak job will try to assassinate Obama thinking of these passages, but I really don't think the possibility is as great as you make it out to be.

Welcome to Beliefcorner Dreamer

Obama is a skilled politician who has no firm principles.  I started this to point out that many Muslims will consider him an apostate and would deal with that depending on their understanding of Islam.  If he is elected, it will be a problem for him and I would expect some accomodation that would not be in the best interest of the country.

Obama has distanced himself from Muslims . . he has not attended one Mosque as yet, fearing that it would lose him votes in November.  As to assisination,  I hope that the secret service does it's job.

Looks like there is more truth to the report that  Barak Hussein Obama was a Muslim in his early years.

There is plenty of evidence that Husssein was a Muslim, even that he was educated (age 6-10) in a radical Islamic school in Indonesia.

In the wake of that controversy, the Los Angeles Times sent a reporter to Jakarta to ferret out the truth.
The Times report, published on March 16, 2008, revealed:

Quote
• A close boyhood friend of Obama, Zulfin Adi, said Barack "was a Muslim. He went to the mosque."

• Obama's first-grade teacher at a Catholic school, Israella Dharmawan, said: "Barry (Barack's nickname) was Muslim. He was registered as a Muslim because his father was Muslim."

• In the third grade, Obama transferred to a public school, where he was also registered as a Muslim. At the school, Muslim students attended weekly religion lessons about Islam.
Some of these details have been confirmed by Obama himself. In his autobiography, "Dreams From My Father," Obama mentions studying the Koran and describes the public school as "a Muslim school."

Earlier this year, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs claimed: "Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian."

But the facts suggest that statement is not exactly true.

So despite his pleadings it appears that Barak Husein Obama spent about 10 years as a Muslim.

Add that to the 20 Years under the decpleship of Rev. Wright

And you get a long history of radical religious education.

You can begin to understand where Obama gets his skillful dodging of this and other issues.

Come on, Faithfulee.  To you really believe that sort of partisan garbage?  How much does a 10 year old know about Islam?  And from all indications, we don't even know if he was a member of regular attendance at the Trinity Church.

I am not sure for thanking you but I am using Foxfire..  I may have to reset all my bookmarks and that will be a pain.  I'll try though I don't see spellchecker either.

Anyway to topic.  My point is that even for 10 years Muslims who change are called apostates.

Muslims jealously guard their membership.

Firefox will provide a red line under your misspelled words.  Right click on it, and it will give you options for words you meant to insert.

It's great for debate.

I'm an average speller.  In fact, I should be a magnificent speller for all the stuff I manage to read on a daily basis, but for some reason, my spelling doesn't appear to improve much.

Also, I type fairly fast, so misspelling may very well be a product of trying to hasten my typing.

I have that option in word, but cannot find it in foxfire.

I am with you on the amount of time I spend writing,  but it is part of my life.

I love reading and commenting on events the world over and also keeping in touch with friends and family.

Anyway, I hope you see my spelling improve.  keep after me if you don't.

Thanks for the intro,  I am finding it quite useful.  such as enlarging the text.
