Hat,

Would the states be taxed on this revenue?

Don't know why it WOULD be...after all, the continental shelf does not belong to the Federal gov't, but the State, correct?

Quote
This would be a true windfall profit!!!
Well, not really; the oil companies would be doing the work, probably with the assistance of the State.  The Fed should keep it's grubby hands and regulatory agencies the hell off of it.  Ever read what all those agencies fined the companies developing the Alaskan North Slope oil fields and pipeline?  The original projections to build the Pipeline went up by a magnitude of around FIFTY, iirc, and most of that from ridiculous restrictions/impositions upon the companies doing the building, like requiring outhouses to have Mercedes-Benz diesel engines to process the waste, or charging a $10,000 fine for every truck that strayed from the "approved" road for any reason, etc., etc., ad nauseum.

Quote
Also, if this is going to be a state issue, and the states maintain revenues from this oil, would they not be responsible to maintain it and also for for any spillage, holding individual oil companies accountable?
I don't know about maintaining the oil platforms, unless you mean re-supply/rescue ops.  Holding the oil companies ACCOUNTABLE for spills and cleanup costs, however, most certainly SHOULD be done, imho.  Personally, I think that the oil companies themselves should be required to do the cleanup work, but if they shirk that responsibility, or do not do it well, the State should hire private agencies to do the work and BILL the oil companies.

But this all goes back to my original point; the USG is a bankrupt corporation in receivership to international banksters; these "holders in due course of the bankruptcy" do not WANT a strong, powerful, and independent America; they want Americans to be weak and DEpendent.  So while this speculation is nice, it simply will not happen, as it doesn't currently fit in with the bankster's agenda to create a One-world government with a One-world currency that they control and issue.

If America became a self-sufficient producer and exporter again, the dollar would grow strong; the PTB WANT the dollar to fall, so that the Amero can come to the rescue...and this DOES suit their agenda.  Once the North American Union uses the Amero, and the Africans use an equivalent(don't think the "Afro" will go over big, so they'll name it something else), as well as a currency for the Asiatic nations, then with fewer world currencies, it will be easier to create yet another world crisis to ensure their eventual goal.

No, the best way by far for Americans to survive and thrive will be for more and more individual Americans working in concert to produce their own fuel and power, then begin our own manufacturing plants using the power we create, and thumb our collective noses at both Federal Regulations and the banks(and allied corporations) who make the alphabet agencies do their bidding, instead of the bidding of the People who ELECTED the representatives and officials to safeguard OUR God-given Rights, not be obedient slaves to the favored few whose policies deliberately and maliciously bankrupted the country.

With goodwill to all the People-

We are sitting on abundance of oil and gas and it is idiotic for us not to be developing it.  We are being conned by the dims who will not admit to the abundance and their role in preventing its development.

The politics of the issue is that the dims hold "environmental" considerations as more important than the economic health of Americans.  "Let the starve, so that their last breath will not be contaminated"  is the mantra to gain control of the American people.

The facts are that there is abundant oil and natural gas in the world.

Let us get out there and drill here, drill now and pay less.

The Arctic contains just over a fifth of the world's undiscovered, recoverable oil and natural-gas resources, according to a review released Wednesday, confirming its potential as the final frontier for energy exploration.

A report by the U.S. Geological Survey found that the area north of the Arctic Circle has an estimated 1,670 trillion cubic feet of natural gas -- nearly two-thirds the proved gas reserves of the entire Middle East -- and 90 billion barrels of oil.

I think it belongs to the Feds.

There is a limit to the state's ownership (I think 3 miles)

Does anyone challange the existance of these vast resources.??

Today the Republicans in Congress are promoting drilling.  Pelosi adjourned the house, turned off the lights and ordered CNN out.  Didn't work, the Repubs are still at it while the dims have taken their private jets to there home states.
