There is a lot attributed to our recent economic downturn.

Inflation, speculators, etc, etc......

But really our problems are our own doing, doing what we do best.

The United States has done freedom well, very well.

Capitalism has brought the US to the apex of success for a nation/civilization as no other nation before it.

And consider where these exports have gone:

South Korea
Japan
Germany
INDIA
CHINA

The genie is certainly out of the bottle.  By example, and by our own success, these companies have learned to achieve success, though our patterns.  For decades, we have lead the world in development technologies and business acumen.  US businesses have located to many of these countries and taught these nations secrets to our success.

see Edward Deming:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._Edwards_Deming for one such HUGE example.  If you have not read his book the book of the same, it is great reading.

Now, you would think that as the world gradually begins to incorporate US capitalism into their societies, it would make the global economies that much sharper, greater, and stronger with real possibilities of eliminating poverty worldwide.  Yes?

No.

You see, India and China, S Korea and Japan, they dont have OSHA.  These nations have no equivalent Serria Club.  Basically, they dont have the Democrat Party!  If we could only export that!

The US finds itself at a tremendous disadvantage after exporting our best products to developing countries as we are hamstrung now to compete due to laws, regulations and politically correct ideals.  China and India have no true labor laws, minimum wage to answer to.

Just thoughts.

There is not much we can do about China in terms of forcing them to enforce certain labor laws, but I think we can make changes here in the U.S that will guide our economic destiny for generations to come.  The US environmentalist lobby groups tend stymie capitalism almost at every turn.  Some of their concerns are valid and some other concerns plainly aren't.  For instance, there is no economic crisis too severe to matter to these groups.  Take a look at our oil prices, and subsequently the price of gasoline.  It's fairly obvious the answer to this problem is to increase the supply of oil to the international market.  The democrats couldn't care a less how high gas prices are.  In a backward way, they believe it will force the hand of government to explore alternative energy without a glance toward drilling for oil.
