A new poll shows that 82% of Hispanics consider education as one of three most important issues facing this country. The survey also shows that, even while Hispanics trust Democrats over Republicans on education by more than a two-to-one margin, that ratio could change if Republicans heavily promote school choice while Democrats oppose it.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121607849587752587.html?mod=opinion_main_commentaries

The article goes on to say that Hispanic voters are more likely to vote for the candidate who supports school choice.

This is a Republican Issue.  Hispanics are not the only ones who are sick and tired of  having their children educated by the Teachers Unions.

School Choice gives both students and teachers the opportunity to excel and to explore newer and more effective ways to educating Americas Children

Hispanics are overwhelmingly Catholic and want support for Catholic schools.   Many of the supporters of vouchers are supporters of Church schools and of creation science.  I do not support school vouchers programs in general or NCLB, Local control of school is the best.

Charter Schools are not Catholic schools, they are public schools.

I agree that there is no place for creation "science" in public science education, just as I believe that it is not a good thing for public school children to be denied information about "God's Creation".  Charter schools would probably not get far introducint "creation science".  A family member runs a Charter School in California and I assure you that "Creation Science" is not in the currirulumn.  Grandpa is the prime mover in teaching about "God's creation",  and it is sinking in,  thank God.  My oldest grandchild, a graduate of that school won top honors in High School and is now a student at Brown.

The politics are on the Republican side.  Even my liberal wife and former teacher is coming around.  She was particularly distressed that the local public schools had two budget elections, an both were turned down.  The legal reaction was for the Scool Board to approve a budget that was higher than either rejected one.

Lee, I'm pretty strong in my stance that it is the parents job to teach the kids about whatever god created whatnot, not the public schools.

School vouchers re not  required for Charter schools.  School vouchers In most locations are used to pay for attending private school.   I understood  that Vouchers issue/school was not including Charter, magnate  or other district run alternative programs
