Read ALL the links.

ABC News and Nightline have done a number of reports that I've seen. They have been among the most assiduous of all newtwork news outlets to follow these stories.

This link is to 1300+ stories they have done--many of them have video you can watch online.

"THank you. I am fully aware of what PTSD is since I was diagnosed with it in 2001."

PTSD is one of the major causes of Iraq Vet suicides.

Semi-related:

There was an article on BBC today about the alarming number of Russian troops who commit suicide each year-- almost an entire battalion.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7425694.stm

I was really puzzled by the last paragraph.  Do you think the reasons are comparable?

Ummm . . . that was interesting stuff in all, but it didn't support your claim at all.

PTSD is an issue, yes.

Suicide is one of things that can happen because of it.

However, WW, you seem to be making the claim that there is an increased rate of suicide.  Now there might be, and there might not be.  But all you are currently doing is showing stories about PTSD, and case studies of persons who committed suicide.  We all know that that already happens and is awful.  What you need to do in order to substantiate your claim you need to show studies that conclude an increased rate.

All--hi--

You say--

"However, WW, you seem to be making the claim that there is an increased rate of suicide"

A number of different questions were asked and I was answering them in succession.

btw--there was a graphic and short report on one of the news programs last night showing the increase in the number of suicides. As soon as I remember which program it was on I'll post a link to it here.

Acumen--that was just one link because someone asked for individual case histories--which of course are no available. I posted that informtaion from the dailykos as the enxt best thing.

See the other links--like the ABC News link with 1400+ stories on military suicides for lots omore specific information.
