By now probably everyone has heard about the talks going on between the US and Iraq to create a "Security Agreement" on just what the US will do for/with/in Iraq from now on.

There is a lot of dissention about this "Agreement."

First of all because it is an "Agreement" and not a "Treaty" the Congress's approval will not be needed.

Second--some people see this "Agreement" as a way for the Bush Adminstration to tie the hands of the new president to do whatever the Bush Administration wants to be done with Iraq--thereby insuring the UJS presence in Iraq for years to come.

Third--the "agreement" talks are being held in secret. Very little has come out about them.

Fourth--recently it has been said that Iraq is objecting to the terms of the "agreement" and does NOT want the US to stay in Iraq under the terms the US is now proposing because it gives the US too much power over the Iraqi Government.

Have you heard about this "Agreement" or the negotiations over it?

What are your ideas and feelings about this "Agreement"?

Do you think this administration should commit future adminstrations to do things that congress has no say over--and which may be antithetical to future adminstrations' foreign policies?

"The security pact also faces strong criticism from members of al-Maliki's own Shiite-dominated coalition. Two Iraqi officials familiar with the negotiations warned on Sunday that a deal is unlikely to be reached before the end of President Bush's term in January unless Washington backs off some demands seen as giving American forces too much freedom to operate in Iraq and infringing on Iraqi sovereignty.

Iraq's parliament must approve the deal, and the two officials said opposition in the legislature was so widespread that it stood no chance of winning approval without significant changes in the U.S. position. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the secrecy surrounding the negotiations."

Your lack of confidence and faith in this administration is monumental.

In fact we are able to negotiate (as Obama would also want to do) because we are winning in Iraq and the Islamic Terrorists are on the defensive.

Sure we want to establish some guidelines as soon as possible to build on our success and strengthen the Iraq government to take over the security of our country.

I haven't hard a serious commentator on this subject?

Where do you come up with this stuff??

The security agreement also has to do with Iran.  Even the UN recognizes that they are a growing threat to world peace and stability.

I hope we do tie the hands of Obama who wants to surrender just as we are winning in Iraq.

As I have been saying for years, Victory in Iraq is when the Iraq government can deal with it's own security,  and that day is approaching.  When we leave Iraq, President Bush will have set back Islamic terrorism and facilitated a demoratic government.

Our troops will come home victorious and be given the acclaim that the libs want to deny them, and the US.

Also of note is the fact that Oil production is up in Iraq and that will help lower oil prices here at home.
