Clyde is right, if this debate continues in its current direction, then it should be taken to the Christianity debate board.

How is Tao and Dharma the same way as Christ?

Christ is the Way; Tao is the Way.  Follow Christ and you will be following the Tao or the Dharma or whatever other name the Way is known by.  Follow the Way by any name and you are following Christ, who is the Way.

That really doesn't answer my question.  How is following Tao lead one to self-recognition of guilt, contrition, repentance, faith, baptism, and atonement?

We could probably have a more profitable discussion of that question after you have read a good translation of the Tao Te Ching.

I'll tell you what, instead of reading the entire Tao Te Ching, why don't you save me the trouble and point to the part of this work that talks about repentance, faith in a redeemer, and sacrificial atonement.  If the Tao Te Ching doesn't mention these things, then you really don't have a leg to stand on.

it's very short.  You can read it in an evening.  Do you think Jesus was talking about sacrificial atonement when he said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life"?   That sounds more like later church dogma.

As for repentance, contrition, faith and amendment of life, all religions teach that.
