Ok, so I will admit that I stick out like a sore thumb in any Christian Church, Shocked but I was wondering about the praise and worship one finds in Pentecostal Churches. Is there a break down of meanings? Or do you all do whatever you feel like? Huh (Please I am not trying to be offensive, I just want to know... Call it curiosity.)

Well, it sort of depends on what, in particular, you're referring to.

Everything sort of has a meaning, but in large part the more physical worship is more or less "free."

They were forced to eat Robin's minstrels... and there was much rejoicing.  Yay.

Ok, that is fair. I come from a ritualistic background, so this is how I think...

Um so what does it mean when you raise your hands, when you jump, when you clap your hands, when you run around the church? Are there specific reasons for these things?

Suz,

I would say these are different modes of human emotional expression that one will often observe in today's society at ball-games all around the globe (with the one exception of running around the stadium, however I've seen mascots do it).

Another thought - there are those who take the Scriptures
regarding lifting holy hands, making a joyful noise, worshiping
God in the dance (like King David), sacrifices of praise... and
apply it to their own worship.  Some choose to follow these
examples and some don't.

In our congregation we have the freedom to choose how we
personally worship God.  It is not chaotic nor disorderly,
because there is a time and a place for this kind of worship.
There is also a time to sit quietly and listen to the Biblical
teachings, etc...

Personally, I believe God created us with an innate desire to
worship our Creator.  Those of us who believe we know Him,
are free to worship Him in spirit and truth!
