I went into the theatre Friday night with some reservations... upon reading reviews of the new Narnia film, Prince Caspian, I was expecting it to be decent as a stand-alone product, but not an adequate follow-up to the first movie in the Narnia franchise, the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

As with "Wardrobe," Prince Caspian is visually stunning. The battle scenes are exciting and creative. I was expecting both of those.

However, I was pleasantly surprised at the rest of the movie. I found it to be a solid sequel (although not as good as the first). I thought it was a touch jumpy as it hopped from scene to scene with some fairly weak segues and in places it failed to adequately set up the scene, but the good far outweighed the bad.

As a Christian, I found C.S. Lewis' Christianity to be much more apparent in Caspian than it was in Wardrobe, as well.

I did not read the book, and I understand that this one is a bit less "loyal" to the book than the first installment was - but I also understand that this is a good thing, because the book tended to be a bit on the boring side, and the battle scenes were not particularly well laid out to translate directly to the big screen.

If you have seen Prince Caspian, please submit your thoughts...

..and so is the lead actor.  Wink

But seriously, I read the books about twenty years ago (damn, I feel old!), so I don't remember much. But from the commercials, it does seem as though this movie is very well done technically/visually, so I would like to see it. Since I was not a Christian when I read it, I did not really get any Christian allegories, so I wonder how those will come across.

I have a lot of movies on my 'hit list', so this one will probably be a secondary choice. Movies in the theatre here are too expensive! We need a two-dollar theatre here like where I used to live!

Hi Beautiful Dreamer,

Caspian is probably not in your local theater any longer, and hopefully won't take long before it hits video.
